Mahindra XUV500 Automatic has been launched at Rs.15.36 lakhs and will lock horns directly against Hyundai Creta 1.6 automatic diesel version
Mahindra has introduced an automatic version of its flagship XUV500 utility vehicle in India at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs. 15.36 lakhs. The six-speed automatic gearbox is sourced from Aisin Seiki as opposed to Scorpio’s automatic variant from Drive Systems International (DSI). The same six-speed forwards and one reverse gear autobox is expected to be found in the Ssangyong SUVs that could be launched as soon as next year in India.
It remains identical under the bonnet as the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger churns out 140hp at 3,750rpm and 330Nm of peak torque at 1600-2800rpm. Although XUV500 is a popular SUV, the Hyundai Creta 1.6 diesel automatic it rivals against has been selling in high numbers since its launch.
The Mahindra XUV500 Automatic with gated-type shifter comes with premium black and beige interiors, six airbags, fully automatic temperature control with dual HVAC, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), reverse parking camera with dynamic assist and Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control systems that aid traction while driving uphill.
Other main features include seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice command, electric sunroof, static bending lamps, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, MicroHybrid Start-Stop technology, Tyre-Tronics, logo projection lamps on ORVMs and six-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
The automatic XUV500 will be available in W8 and W10 trims and in three variants: W8 FWD, W10 FWD and W10 AWD. W8 will be equipped with front wheel drive layout and thus available with both manual and automatic drives. The W10 version will get both manual and the six-speed automatic gearboxes with front wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Prices start from Rs. 15.36 lakhs and go all the way up to Rs. 17.37 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).
