Mahindra officially introduced the much awaited new XUV 300 last week and it is based on the SsangYong Tivoli platform. Both models share lots of components but Mahindra has reduced the length of XUV 300 below 4 meters to get excise duty benefits when compared to Tivoli along with wider dimensions and increased ground clearance.

The XUV 300 is available in four variants – W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O). The company has loaded the compact SUV with lots of segment first features and even the entry-level models come with good features list. In this article, we are comparing the W4 and W6 variants of the XUV 300 to find out which variants offer better value.

Both variants come with 205/65 R16 steel wheels but the W6 variant gets wheel covers and the upper grille is finished in silver colour while the W4 variant gets silver top strip only. The W6 variant comes with black finished roof rails along with door cladding, integrated spoiler and front scuff plate, all these features are missing on the W4 variant.

The interior is finished in black fabric and it comes with features like 60:40 split seats, height adjustable front seat belts, electric tailgate release, 4 speakers, centre roof lamp, 12V accessory socket, adjustable headrest, padded front seat with storage and bottle holder in all 4 doors, all these features comes as standard on both W4 and W6 variants.

But the W4 variant misses out steering mounted controls and adjustable boot floor. In terms of technology, the W4 and W6 comes with electrically operated HVAC, smart steering, smartwatch connectivity, driver side power window with express down, blue sense app, four-door power windows, tyre position display, Bluetooth, USB charging ports and one-touch lane changing indicators.

Apart from this, the W6 variant also comes with a touch screen infotainment system with a navigation system, key with remote, follow me home and lead me lamps. The safety features are same on both variants and it includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner braking control, disc brakes on all four wheels, ISOFIX, passenger airbag deactivation switch and seat belt reminder for front seats.

Mahindra XUV 300 is powered by newly developed 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 bhp of power at 5,100 rpm and 200 Nm of torque. The 1.5 L diesel engine is the same unit from Marazzo but it is detuned to produce 115 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque between 1,500 – 2,500 rpm. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual gearbox.

Petrol:

XUV300 W4 – Rs. 7.90 Lakh

XUV300 W6 – Rs. 8.75 Lakh

Diesel: 

XUV300 W4 – Rs. 8.49 Lakh

XUV300 W6 – Rs. 9.30 Lakh

The price difference between both variants is just Rs. 85,000 and it is worth upgrading to W6 variant as it comes loaded with premium features.
