Mahindra XUV300 Is the long-awaited Maruti Vitara Brezza rival, prices should start around 8.5 lakh
You would know that the company has been working on a Maruti Vitara Brezza rival that will be based on the Ssangyong Tivoli. While it was rumoured to launch as the XUV300, it has now come to be known that it will instead be called the Mahindra XUV300.
Other than the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Mahindra XUV300 will rival the Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon. Its prices are expected to start at Rs. 8.5 lakh, which will make it more expensive than most of its rivals but there are good chances that its specs, mileage, and interior features would justify this price. Our Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza rival will give you an idea about how the new model would fare against the traditional best-seller in this segment.
Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Price Comparison
|Mahindra XUV300 (S201)||Rs 8.50 – 11.50 Lakh (est)|
|Maruti Vitara Brezza||Rs 7.58 – 10.55 Lakh (ex-showroom)|
In terms of pricing, the Mahindra XUV300 is expected to cost a bit more than the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The hot-selling Maruti Suzuki compact SUV currently retails in a price bracket of Rs 7.58 lakh to Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
The XUV300, however, should have a starting price of Rs 8.00 lakh, which will make it a more expensive proposition than its main rival. Moreover, the base price will be of the petrol model. The diesel-only Brezza will rival the diesel version of the XUV300, which should have a base price of almost Rs 8.8 lakh.
Hence, in terms of pricing alone, the Brezza will have a clear advantage over the XUV300. But the latter is expected to be a lot more premium offering, with more power, more features, a high mileage, and a petrol engine option, too. This should help it justify the higher price tag. Still, it’s a bit early to pick out a clear winner of this section of the Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza rival.
Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Specs Comparison

The diesel engine will be powered by a 1.5-litre D15 four-cylinder diesel engine that made its debut on the Marazzo MPV. It outputs a maximum power of 123 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The 1.2-litre petrol engine for the XUV300 will employ a turbocharger to produce a maximum power of 130 PS. Its peak torque should be pegged in the region of 160 Nm.
With power figures like these, the Mahindra XUV300 will become the most potent model in its segment. Transmission options for the petrol engine should include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT, while the diesel engine is likely to be sold initially with a 6-speed manual transmission only. The new model will be based on the Ssangyong Tivoli’s platform. This should guarantee world-class dynamics.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is available with just one engine options – 1.3-litre DDiS200. It produces a maximum power of 90 PS along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Mileage Comparison
|Model||Mahindra XUV300 (est)||Maruti Vitara Brezza (ARAI)|
|Mileage||17 kmpl (petrol), 20 kmpl (diesel)||24.3 kmpl|
This is one area where the Vitara Brezza should hold an advantage over the XUV300. With an ARAI-tested mileage of 24.3 kmpl, it is the best mileage SUV in India. In comparison, the XUV300, which will have more powerful engines, is likely to offer around 20 kmpl from its diesel engine and 17 kmpl from its petrol motor. The lower mileage from the XUV300 could work in favour of Brezza, which has a stellar fuel economy figure.
Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Features Comparison
The Maruti Vitara Brezza has been a sufficiently feature-laden model that offers premium bits like a Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, and cruise control.
The Mahindra XUV300 will offer this and a lot more. In fact, it will be the most feature-rich model in its segment. The interior of the new model will have a lot in common with the Ssangyong Tivoli. This should ensure a world-class fit and finish other than the high equipment levels.
The dashboard will be home to a large touchscreen system that will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering will have controls for the audio system, telephone, and cruise control. The instrument cluster will have a large MID.
Like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Mahindra XUV300 will also have automatic climate control. However, it will have a dual-zone temperature setting option. This will be the first-in-segment feature. The new SUV will also have other segment-first features like disc brakes on all four wheels and seven airbags.
Of course, these features will be restricted to the top-end variants but should help the SUV come across as a more premium offering. Other than this, the XUV300 will feature an electric sunroof, reverse parking sensors with camera, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED headlamps and tail lamps, and LED DRLs.
Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Comparison Verdict
Price – In terms of price, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is unbeatable. However, the XUV300 could come across as a better value as it has more powerful engines and more features.
Specs – The XUV300 is in a league of its own in this department. With turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, and 6-speed manual transmissions and AMT, it is a league ahead of the Brezza in this aspect.
Mileage – The Maruti Vitara Brezza has no threat from the XUV300 in this aspect. With a peak mileage of 24.3 kmpl, it’s the best mileage SUV in the country and will continue to be so.
Features – The Maruti Vitara Brezza feels a bit too under-equipped in comparison with the Mahindra XUV300 in this aspect. The latter will be sold with many first-in-segment features, which will make it the most feature-laden SUV in its class. The Brezza simply can’t match the new M&M model in this part of the comparison.
From the above, it is clear that the new sub-4-metre SUV from M&M will have a lot going for it. It looks like the Indian UV manufacturer is finally ready with a proper rival to the popular compact SUVs. So far, the Ssangyong Tivoli-based model looks like the winner of our Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza comparison review.
