The Mahindra XUV300 will have segment-best features along with most powerful engines in the class to give fierce competition to Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport

The Mahindra XUV300 will launch in February 2019 to become the first real competitor from Mahindra and Mahindra to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Ford EcoSport. The XUV 300 is a great attempt by Mahindra as it features some segment-first features and more than that, the most powerful engines in the segment.

At the moment, the Maruti Vitara Brezz is the least powerful compact SUV in the segment, with a diesel engine that has a maximum power of 90 PS. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon offers 110 PS of maximum power from its petrol and diesel engines. The Ford EcoSport offers 100 PS from its diesel engine and 122 PS from its 1.5-litre petrol engine and 125 PS from the 1.0-litre engine. The Mahindra XUV300, however, will be more powerful than both of these.

The Mahindra XUV300, as the manufacturer has claimed, will offer the highest torque output in the segment. The petrol engine will displace 1.2-litre and will be a turbocharged engine that will produce segment-leading power and torque figures. The motor will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The diesel engine from the Mahindra XUV300 will be coming from the Mahindra Marazzo, which is a 1.5-litre unit with a maximum power of 123 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine option will expectedly get a 6-speed AMT in due course of time.

Talking about the features list for the Mahindra XUV300, the same will carry stuff like dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, electric sunroof, and a touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Mahindra XUV300 is based on the Ssangyong Tivoli’s X100 platform, which h as won many awards for its high structural rigidity. The modern platform should lead to a good balance between ride quality and outright handling, thereby making the XUV 300 a car that can easily rub shoulders with the dynamically very well-sorted Ford EcoSport as well as the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
