Mahindra XUV300 will go on sale in the middle of next month in India with several segment-first features and powerful engines
Mahindra & Mahindra is having a busy financial year as the launch of Marazzo MPV was followed by the flagship Alturas G4, and as part of bringing in new products into the range, the XUV300 is prepared for debut on February 14. On the valentine’s day, the XUV300 is entering one of the most hotly contested segments in the domestic market.
Rivalling against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport, the XUV300 has all the bells and whistles on paper to be a success. It has a lot in stakes as Mahindra has already had its trials and tribulations in the sub-four-metre SUV space. However, unlike the TUV300, Quanto and NuvoSport the XUV300 is a monocoque SUV with plenty of potentials.
The Mahindra XUV300 is based on the X100 platform as the SsangYong Tivoli and has its exterior crafted to bear several resemblances to the bigger XUV500. It comes powered by the 1.5-litre D15 four-cylinder diesel engine borrowed from Marazzo with 123 PS power and 300 Nm torque. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine has already been confirmed to produce segment-topping 200 Nm.
Both the powertrain will initially be offered with a six-speed manual transmission. We have discussed enough about the XUV300 in our previous posts and analysed its ability to shake up the segment and in a recent official video, Mahindra has showcased its segment-first safety features.
It includes first-in-class seven airbags (front, side and curtain), disc brakes on all the four wheels as well as parking sensors at the front. Moreover, the Electronic Stability Program will be offered in the top-spec variants with Hill Hold Assist function helping in greater control for the driver under tricky conditions.

The homegrown auto major has commenced pre-bookings for the XUV300 officially across its dealerships for an initial token of Rs. 11,000.
