Mahindra XUV 3XO could be the production name of the upcoming XUV300-based EV but no official confirmation has been made yet

Mahindra has filed trademarks for five new names in India, potentially for their upcoming lineup of electric SUVs. These names include XUV 7XO, XUV 5XO, XUV 3XO, and XUV 1XO. The naming convention is straightforward, with the “XUV” prefix followed by a suffix similar to some of the existing models, with an “X” in the middle.

The homegrown manufacturer is planning to introduce the facelifted XUV300 next in the domestic market in the coming weeks and it will more likely be followed by its electric sibling and both have been spotted testing already. The five-door version of the Mahindra Thar is also bound for launch towards the end of the second quarter of this CY or in the third quarter.

The new names could be used for the electric derivates of their respective ICE siblings but there is no XUV 500 or the XUV 100 on sale in India currently. The possibilities of the XUV 7XO becoming the production name of the XUV.e8 concept based electric SUV are high and as we already know, it will have a lot in common with the IC-engined XUV700.

Likewise, the XUV 3XO could be used for the XUV300-based EV.  The sub-four-metre SUV will have plenty of commonalities with the XUV300 facelift, which will get a range of revisions inside and out compared to the outgoing model. The Mahindra XUV 3XO will likely feature EV-specific exterior revisions and perhaps the unique copper touches found in the XUV400.

Judging by the spy images, it will adopt a twin-part front grille section, newly designed alloy wheels, new badges, a charging port, different bumpers, connected LED tail lamps, repositioned number plate, wider air intakes and much more. It will sit at the entry point of the brand’s electric vehicle portfolio and will directly take on the recently launched Tata Punch EV and some variants of the Nexon EV.

It will be cheaper than the XUV400 by around Rs. 2 lakh and will come equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment screen, a fully-digital instrument console, a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, etc. As for the performance, a 35 kWh battery pack is expected to be employed with a range of 350-400 km.
