Mahindra XUV300 AMT production model has been spotted again on the test, the launch is expected to take place soon

Mahindra officially launched the XUV300 on February 14 and the compact SUV has been selling really well. The XUV300 is the second best selling model of Mahindra last month and it has managed to beat established rivals like Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. The company is planning to expand the variant lineup of XUV300 soon.

The XUV300 automatic model has been spotted on test in Gurgaon and we can expect the company to launch this variant soon in India. We have already reported that initially, Mahindra will introduce the AMT variant of XUV300 as the conventional automatic gearbox is still under development.

The AMT gearbox is likely to be a 5-speed unit, which is already available in Mahindra TUV300 as well. The company might offer an automatic option with both petrol and diesel engines. The XUV300 is powered by 1.5 L diesel engine, which comes from Marazzo but it produces 115 hp of power at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm at 1,500 rpm – 2,500 rpm.

The petrol engine is a new 1.2 L turbocharged unit with 110 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm – 3,500 rpm. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual gearbox now. The petrol model returns 17 km/l and 20 km/l for the diesel. We can expect the AMT variant to return similar efficiency as the manual.

The XUV300 is based on the same platform as SsangYong Tivoli but the exterior design theme is different while the interior design of both models is nearly identical. Mahindra has packed the XUV 300 with lots of segment first features like dual-zone climate control, sunroof, heated exterior mirrors, steering modes, disc brakes on all four wheels and more.
