Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe concept debuted at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo; previews future premium coupe SUV
Mahindra displayed its XUV Aero Coupe concept at Automobile Barcelona and garnered pretty good response with this five-door coupe SUV. It debuted at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo and received praise thanks to its unique design. It comes as a design study from the homegrown auto major to explore the response for a future XUV coupe.
In September last year, Mahindra claimed that Indian market is not yet ready for such premium product. But, considering the positive response the XUV Aero Coupe has earned and the rising demand of premium products in the country, this could be a new trendsetter, if Mahindra decides to start the production of this car. Mahindra is aiming to offer premium products to the domestic buyers as well as expand its business to the global markets as well. In that case, this could be a perfect offering from the brand.

If things go well, then we might see the Mahindra XUV Aero derived coupe SUV in the market within two years. It has been designed by Mahindra’s Design Studio in association with famous Italian design house Pininfarina. If launched, this could be an affordable coupe SUV for the domestic buyers against premium Mercedes and BMW coupe SUVs.
Speaking about its design, the XUV Aero has taken inspiration from the brand’s current flagship SUV XUV500. It incorporates a similar front fascia, but there are distinctive styling elements as well. As the concept was showcased at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the production model could come sporting projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, a massive and aggressive radiator grille, a chunky bumper with large air intake, vertically positioned LED fog lamps.

Side profile of the coupe SUV sports a very masculine touch with flared fenders, large sporty design alloy wheels with red brake calipers, sharp character lines and a nicely curved coupeish roofline blending perfectly to the rear of the car. Rear profile of the Mahindra XUV Aero gets LED taillights and a chunky muscular bumper as well.
