Mahindra and Mahindra have reportedly started the development process for the Mahindra TUV300 facelift. The upcoming mid-cycle refresh will bring several cosmetic updates and new features. More importantly, it will have a stronger body structure to comply with the stringent safety norms that will come into effect from 2019. Another big highlight will be the introduction of a BSVI-compliant engine.

It is worth mentioning here that all the cars will have to switch to a BSVI-compliant engine by 1 April 2020. Prior to that, all cars will have to comply with stricter safety norms that will come into effect on 1 October 2019. In order to comply with these new norms, many manufacturers have fast-tracked the development of the facelifts of their models. This will help the launch the new styling updates along with additional safety features and a BSVI-compliant engine.

Currently, the Mahindra TUV300 is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is BSVI-compliant. It outputs a maximum power of 84 bhp and a peak torque of 230 Nm. The motor comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard.

The T8 and T10 trims are on sale with optional AMTs. As India will skip the BSV emission norms and directly adopt the BSVI standards, the car manufacturers are now required to upgrade their engines accordingly.
