Mahindra Thar.e concept is underpinned by the customised INGLO P1 platform and is claimed to have class-leading off-roading capabilities

The conceptual version of the electrified Thar dubbed the Thar.e has broken covers at the Mahindra Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa. The company has revealed the Global Pik Up truck concept based on the Scorpio N as well alongside announcing the launch timeline of its future range of electric vehicles.

In addition, the new generation Oja tractor line composing seven models has also been showcased. The one taking the limelight is undoubtedly the Mahindra Thar.e, which is confirmed to sit on the customised INGLO P1 platform. The use of the dedicated skateboard EV architecture gives rise to longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs while the ground clearance is also higher.

The authentic upright silhouette has been retained amidst its modern underpinnings. The approach angle, departure angle, breakover angle and the water wading capacity are claimed to be the best in class. The exterior is a radical departure compared to its ICE sibling as it boasts an upright front fascia with seamless integration of the lighting unit in a single panel.

The triple vertical LED signature is accompanied by bracket-like headlamps bordering inner LED lighting and there is also a Thar.e badging. Other highlights are a flat bonnet and roofline, muscular body panels with sharp lines, a boxy side-hinged tailgate with sparewheel mounted on it, dual-tone wheels with wide section tyres, aggressive black cladding, toe-hooks at the front and rear, prominent bumper cladding and so on.

The concept is in its five-door configuration with hidden door handles and the rear wheels are pushed to the edges to maximise the interior space. The positioning of the battery underneath the floor can also be clearly seen. The battery specifications and range details are not known yet.
