New XUV500 to launch on 25th May in India
Mahindra teases the New Age XUV500 ahead of the May 25th Launch. The test mule or camouflaged version of the XUV 500 has been spotted on rounds throughout the country for some time now, which came as no surprise as we reported the almost confirmed version of the XUV 500 in our last Mahindra post.
A heavy revision has been carried forward into the project of the XUV500 facelift, the front of the will present all new fog light compartment, S-Shaped headlamp cluster with chrome inserts below the primary headlamp. The facelift also is seen with an aluminum skid plate at the chin point. A new grille with touch of chrome and the bumper has been tweaked a bit for an aggressive look. The 10-spoke alloy at the wheelbase makes it look sportier than the earlier version. The rear has not been worked on much by Mahindra. However, the license plate looks bigger in size.
On the interior the facelift will get features like: a new 7-inch infotainment system, reversing camera, new interior trims comprising black and beige trims and engine stop/start technology.
In the 2015 Mahindra XUV500, mechanically there would not be any change to the XUV500, it will be powered by the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, mHawk140 turbocharged diesel engine mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with 2WD and 4WD options, delivering 140 bhp at 3750 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm between 1600 and 2800 rpm. But, expect some minor changes technically. Also, speculated is news that Mahindra has been working on an automatic gearbox which can share space during the launch.
