2016 Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up spied in India is for export market
Looks like Mahindra is on a global expansion spree after launching compact SUV’s in India, large SUV’s coming with major facelift and existing small and fleet SUV are set to be refreshed thoroughly as well. One of them is a combination of two things that we just mentioned.
A major facelift of the Scorpio and the export market specific based on the best selling SUV is getting a double cab pickup truck variant for the exports market that Mahindra also relies and works on.
The new Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up will be based on the body-on-frame chassis which was made lighter and stronger with the help hydroforming. The facelifted Mahindra Pik-Up gets a comprehensively revised cosmetic changes. Front fascia is all new which includes the new grille, double barrel headlamps with DRLs and bumper will be highlight.
The Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up will be completely different than the last generation Scorpio Getaway was made. The side profile remains largely the same, but gets dual cab and instead of honched up rear, it has a loading area which should be above 600 liter and more area. Rear remains to have a simple tail gate and is devoid of LED tail lamps.
Mechanically, the Mahindra Pik-Up will have the 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk diesel engine which is good for 120 PS and 280 Nm of torque. We think it can detuned or retuned for power and torque to suit emission and power needs of the market. The Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up is likely to have 4×4 as an option and a manual 5-speed gearbox will be used.
Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up will be a whole lot better than the last generation as that is also the case with the SUV here. The Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up can be expected to go on sale in markets by late 2016. Meanwhile we can expect an Indian debut most likely at the 2016 Auto Expo.
