Mahindra Reva e2o Four Door caught testing for the first time; likely launch by mid-2016
The Mahindra Reva e2o is currently available in the domestic market as a two-door model. Courtesy of a Team-BHP reader, Mahindra Reva e2o Four Door has been spotted testing for the time.
The test mule was caught heavily camouflaged on the Bengaluru to Hosur highway and it’s been said that the four-door model doesn’t have a dramatic variation in proportions compared to the available electric vehicle with two-door configuration.
It’s more likely to have a slightly longer rear end and above all the spied pictures suggested a modified tail lamp cluster is being moved up at the rear than normal. With the interiors expected to remain unchanged, the four-door version could be added as another variant rather than an extensively revised new model.
Expected to be launched in the middle of 2016, Mahindra announced earlier this year the four-door Reva e2o will be sold in the European markets. In the light of that the company is setting up a distribution centre in the UK and signs of the four-door offered in India is very minimalistic.
On the account of creating awareness over electric mobility in the country, three fully-prepped Reva e2o small hatchbacks set about on the first-ever EV drive Expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in November. The Mahindra e2o two-door small hatchback can facilitate for four passengers and comes with a 48 volt lithium-ion battery which is highly maintenance free claims the company.
The electric power is transferred to the wheels through a 19kW producing electric motor at 3,750rpm and 53.9Nm torque developed from 0 to 3,400 rpm. It also features electric power steering and fully-automatic transmission and the automatic version can last as long as upto 120km range on a full-charge.
The automatic version will take five hours to get fully charged and an hour of socket plugged time on a standard 220V 15A socket can help to drive up to twenty kilometres in case of emergency.
The small electric vehicle measures about 3280 mm in length, 1514 mm in width and 1560 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1958 mm. The manual model derives power from a 14.8kW motor which is good enough to generate 53.9Nm of peak torque. It can attain a top speed of 75km/h and give out 80km range when battery is used up from full-charge to very low state.
