Mahindra confirmed during the launch that the company will introduce petrol and the automatic variant of Marazzo in 2020
Mahindra officially launched the much-awaited Marazzo in India a few days ago, but the MPV is available only with a diesel engine and Dr Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra confirmed during the launch that the company will introduce petrol variant of Marazzo in 2020, as they are waiting for government to introduce new BSVI emission norm.
The Utility Vehicle manufacturer is currently working on a new petrol engine and it could also make its way into upcoming S201 compact SUV. The company didn’t introduce petrol engine at the launch, as they will need to update it again during BSVI transformation, which is too expensive.
The new petrol engine could be 1.5 L unit and it might produce around the same power output as the diesel engine. Mahindra might tune the engine for efficiency and it might be mated to the same 6-speed manual gearbox. We reported earlier that Mahindra will introduce an automatic variant of Marazzo around BSVI deadline.
The automatic variant is expected to be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The flexible and scalable platform of the Marazzo MPV could be used to develop new seven-seat SUV or a crossover model in the near future.
Mahindra is offering both 7 or 8 seater option with Marazzo and it comes with lots of features like touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, climate control, ‘aircraft inspired’ roof mounted surround AC vents, projector headlamps, alloy wheels, reverse camera with parking sensors and more.
The MPV gets safety features like the dual airbag, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and ISOFIX child mounts. Mahindra Marazzo is powered by new 1.5 L diesel engine producing 123 PS of power and 302 Nm of torque. This engine is BSVI complaint and returns a claimed 17.6 kmpl. The Marazzo is available in four variants – M2, M4, M6 and M8.
