Mahindra Supro Maxi truck is targeted against the Tata Ace family of CV’s while Supro van targets Maruti Ecco.
Mahindra has been doing so well when it comes to entry-level commercial vehicle segment. Maximo didn’t do so well and other vehicles haven’t made much impact into the light commercial vehicle segment.
Tata has created monopoly by the Ace family of vehicles while Maruti Suzuki have strong dominance in passenger carrying vehicle segment with Omni and Ecco. Now, Mahindra launches Supro Van and Supro Maxi Truck with best in class features and comes with an attractive price bracket.
The Supro Van and Maxi Truck are powered by Mahindra’s powerful Direct Injection (DI) turbo diesel engine that delivers best of both world on paper as we know now. 909cc Direct Injection (DI) turbo diesel engine pumps out 45 HP and 98 Nm of torque.
All that power and still the Supro Van gives a class leading mileage of 23.5 km/l and Maxi Truck delivers 22.4 km/l.
The Supro Van sends power to rear wheels through a 5-Speed transmission. Electronic power steering and Air conditioning is made available for a comfortable driving experience. The Supro Van comes with a class leading warranty of 2 years/60,000 kms.
Supro has one tonne payload and kerb weight stands at 2070 kg. 8.2ft cargo box is available with the Maxi truck and both van and maxi truck come equipped with a bigger R13(33.02 cm) tyres which makes them have a 4.7m turning radius.
When it comes to features the Supro van gets HVAC and power steering along with beige interiors and almost car like cabin. Digital clock, mobile charger, sun visors, magazine holders and more space to store knick-nacks.
Safety wise Supro Maxitruck and Van come with front nose design and ELR seat belts. The van and maxi truck come fitted with a Dual LSPV braking system which provides the vehicle with better stability and for cargo behind as well.
First impression of the van and maxi truck suggest that the built is good, it is very spacious on the inside and very practical with all the storage spaces along with head and leg room. Beige color along with subtle body color options makes it a good cabin to stay in.
Steering is still like a commercial vehicle on both vehicles and like other commercial vehicles, placement of battery and tyres is odd and unsecured when it comes to tool kit and other bits.
Passenger Van with diesel engine should find a lot of customers and surely take some customers from Maruti as the brand Mahindra is also a domestic one with a wide reach of sales and service network.
