Jawa 350 could be the first bike to launch in India; will compete against Royal Enfield 350cc range

Mahindra confirms that it will launch the first Jawa bike in India before March 2019. The first model to arrive in India is expected to be the Jawa 350 that will throw challenge towards the popular 350 cc range of motorcycles from Royal Enfield. With the launch of Jawa brand and its motorcycles here Mahindra aims to grab a sizeable share in the middle weight category of Indian motorcycle market.

Besides the passenger four-wheeler business, Mahindra has been keen to make good fortune in two-wheeler business as well. This is why the homegrown automaker acquired BSA last year and obtained licence for the iconic Czech motorcycle brand Jawa. Now, Mahindra aims to grab attention of the buyers who seek powerful premium products at competitive pricing.

Pricing of the upcoming Jawa bikes are yet to be disclosed. But expect the bikes to be available at competitive pricing, as they will be challenging the well established Royal Enfield models. Speaking about the upcoming Jawa 350, this motorcycle has been launched in Czech Republic in May this year and garnered positive response. In India too, enthusiasts have shown interest on this model.

The 2017 Jawa 350 OHC comes powered by a 397 cc engine that is capable of churning out 27.73 PS of peak power at 6,500 rpm and 30.6 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. For transmission duty, it gets a 5-speed gearbox and the motorcycle is capable of reaching a top speed of 130 kmph.

The Jawa 350 dons a retro styling with plenty of shiny chrome garnishing. It gets a 12-litre capacity fuel tank and it runs on retro looking multi-spoke wheels. Braking power comes from a 280 mm front disc brake and there is a 160 mm rear disc brake. The 160 kg weighing motorcycle is the first model from Jawa to receive ABS.
