Mahindra Born Electric Vision range of EV concepts will be revealed in July 2022 and here we dissect the teaser images to tell you what we know so far
Mahindra & Mahindra has been teasing the Born Electric Vision range of EV concepts over the last several weeks ahead of their global debut in July 2022. They are expected to give rise to an electrified compact SUV that could go by the name XUV400, a midsize SUV based on the XUV700 and an SUV coupe in the coming years as the brand plans to introduce as many as eight EVs by 2027.
The homegrown SUV specialist has teased the exterior and interior of the upcoming concepts but very few official details are known yet. The SUV coupe will more likely be dubbed the XUV900 and amongst the eight planned electric SUVs, four will be derived from the existing lineup of ICE cars as the XUV300 and XUV700 based EVs are of high possibility.
It is worth noting that the electrified XUV300 was showcased in its near-production avatar at the 2020 Auto Expo as the eXUV300 and reports indicate that it will go on sale in early 2023 following the market launch of the eKUV micro SUV. The latter is suspected to become the most affordable zero-emission vehicle upon arrival in India later this year.
Back to the Born Electric Vision range, Mahindra will launch the first dedicated EV underpinned by the Born Electric architecture developed from scratch by 2025 as four zero-emission vehicles are in the pipeline. The teaser of the exterior showed the presence of a unique C-shaped LED lighting signature at the front as well as the rear with smooth flowing body panels in some quarters.
The interior teaser pointed the finger at the existence of a twin-screen setup as in the XUV700, a flat-bottom steering wheel, contrast lighting elements, hidden AC vents, neatly integrated centre console, rotary dial for switching between drive modes, drive selector lever, a large panoramic sunroof, less use of physical buttons in the driver-focused cockpit, etc.
Just like the Mahindra XUV700, we can expect the triplet of Born Electric Vision concepts to boast high-end technologies like ADAS and a host of safety features. The specifications of the battery involved along with range and charging time are yet to be divulged.
