Lexus is the luxury brand of Toyota and America is one of the most important markets of the company. Recently Lexus registered LQ nameplate in America and it could be used for a future product. If we look at the naming of Lexus models usually L is used for its flagship products like LS for sedan, LC for Coupe, LX for SUVs and LFA for the supercar.

The Japanese manufacturer is present in most of the segment also, so which segment could be the new model coming. Lexus showcased LF-1 Limitless Crossover concept at the Detroit Motor Show and rumours are that the company is planning a production version of this concept. The LQ name could be used for a new range of stylish luxury SUVs from the company.

Lexus-LF-1-Limitless-Concept-Could-Debut-with-LQ-name-3We are sure that Lexus won’t replace LS because it is very popular all over the world and the name has lots of fan following. The LS is based on Land Cruiser which is one of the best off-roaders in the world and the LS range is also known for their off-road benefits. Then the other crossovers include UX, NX and RX models but these are smaller models.

Even though LS is a luxurious SUV, it doesn’t come close to ultra luxury models like Bentley Bentayga or Rolls Royce Cullinan. So the Japanese manufacturer might be planning a SUV above LS range and this segment is niche but still volume is their which is why so many manufacturers are interested in this segment.

The LF-1 Concept design is futuristic and the company has said that this concept is their version of a flagship Luxury SUV.

But we might be completely wrong as manufacturers usually register nameplates but sometimes they won’t use it. If they are planning on a production version of LF-1 Limitless concept, it will debut at next year’s Tokyo Motor Show. We can expect the new flagship SUV to come with all the latest technologies to make it stand out of the competition.
