The KTM RC 125 was launched on 19th June and is priced almost Rs 7,000 higher than its closest rival the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0
KTM launched their smallest full faired supersport motorcycle the RC 125 on 19th of June in India priced at Rs 1.47 Lakh (ex-showroom). Despite its launch in the third week of June, KTM sold 614 units of their newly launched motorcycle while its naked sibling the Duke 125 registered a monthly sale of 1,437 units during the same month.
For those of you who are not aware, the RC 125 shares its underpinnings with the Duke 125 and is available in two colour options: white and orange. It rivals directly against the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 which is priced comparatively lower at Rs 1.40 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The RC 125 is definitely the most feature packed motorcycle in the 125cc segment. The RC 125 shares some of its major components with the bigger RC siblings of the KTM lineup. The fully faired motorcycle features a steel trellis frame, clip-on handlebars, projector headlamps, and LED DRLs.
The motorcycle shares the same 124.7 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 4-Valve, DOHC, fuel injected motor with the Duke 125. This unit paired with a 6-speed gearbox produces about 14.5 PS of peak power at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.
The motorcycle uses an upside-down suspension setup from WP at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. The anchorage duties of the motorcycle are handled by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. A single channel ABS is also offered as standard for the safety of the rider.
There is no doubt in the fact that the baby RC ticks all the right boxes for those who are looking for an entry-level track focused motorcycle which does not scare a young rider with outright power and performance. It is a good option for those young first-time bike buyers who are looking for a well-equipped entry-level performance oriented motorcycle.
