KTM is planning to introduce the 390 Adventure, new generation RC 390, RC 250 and the powerful Duke 790 soon in India
The KTM two-wheeler brand does not need an introduction and is well known amongst the Indian motorcycle enthusiast for their affordable performance motorcycles. They recently introduced the Duke 125 here which already received a positive response from the customers.
Although KTM already has quite an exciting lineup in India but is still planning to up their game by launching a slew of new products within the next one or two years. If everything goes according to plan KTM will be launching not one or two but a total of four new exciting motorcycles soon to take on its rivals. That said, here is the list of four new KTM motorcycles which will launch in India soon.
1. KTM RC 250
To everyone’s surprise, KTM already manufactures the RC 250 in India and export it to other parts of the world. The motorcycle was already spotted testing on the Indian road about a year ago but KTM hasn’t yet launched it here. Although there are no official words from the two-wheeler manufacturer yet there is a fair chance that they might introduce the new RC 250 in India soon.The KTM RC 250 will lock its horns with the existing Honda CBR 250R, TVS Apache RR310 and the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer 250 when launched. The RC 250 uses the same RC 390 chassis and is powered by the 248.8cc engine which also powers the Duke 250 as well.
The 248cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled unit is capable of producing about 30 bhp of power and 24 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. As far as the prices of the upcoming fully faired motorcycle is concerned to expect KTM to price it around Rs 2.10-2.30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
2. KTM 390 Adventure
There is no denying the fact that the KTM 390 Adventure surely is the most anticipated motorcycle of India at this moment. While we all expected KTM to unveil the motorcycle at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show but things didn’t go according to the plan. However, the good news is a test mule of the motorcycle was spotted recently on the Indian road covered in full camouflage and thus you can expect KTM to launch the motorcycle in India this year only after making its global debut at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show.
The 390 Adventure will uses the same Duke 390 platform but it gets a slightly modified chassis for higher ground clearance and lower saddle height. The motorcycle will share its 373.2cc, liquid-cooled engine with the Duke 390. The engine produces about 43.5 bhp of peak power and 37 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed transmission. Expect the Duke 390 to feature a TFT LCD instrument display, full LED headlamps and ride by wire throttle.
After its launch, the motorcycle will compete directly against the likes of the RE Himalayan and the BMW G310 GS. As far as the prices are concerned expect the upcoming Duke 390 Adventure to be priced around Rs 2.60 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
3. 2020 KTM RC390
KTM is all set to introduce the next generation RC 390 in India. The motorcycle was spied recently while it was being tested in Europe. The new generation faired sportbike not only features a revised styling but also gets many additional features as well.
The new generation RC 390 has received a sharper styling and it now also features a double bubble windscreen, vertically stacked LED headlamps and a revised subframe. You can expect the RC 390 to also come equipped with a new TFT LCD instrument cluster with Smartphone integration via Bluetooth which can also be found on the Duke 390.
Besides new styling, you can also expect it to receive an updated BS VI compliant engine as well. The current KTM RC390 is powered by a BS IV compliant 373.2cc motor which produces around 43.5 bhp of power and 36 nm of peak torque. Expect the upcoming RC390 to also get a ride by wire throttle and ABS as standard just like the current motorcycle.
As far as the launch dates of the new generation motorcycle are concerned KTM will showcase the motorcycle first at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show while it will launch in India towards early 2020. The new generation motorcycle with all the additional features and an updated engine could be priced at least Rs 30-35 thousand more than the current generation RC 390.
4. KTM 790 Duke
This is definitely the most expensive as well as the most powerful motorcycle that KTM will launch in India. The news of KTM planning to introduce the middleweight naked streetfighter is doing rounds on the internet for a long time now. Although the company hasn’t revealed the exact launch date but according to the reports, you can expect the motorcycle to launch towards the second half of 2019 in India. The Duke 790 will be a CKD import from Austria and will be assembled locally at Bajaj’s Chakan facility near Pune. As far as the prices are concerned, expect the new Duke 790 to be priced around Rs 7 Lakh mark (ex-showroom).
The Duke 790 is powered by a 799cc, parallel-twin engine which is capable of producing about 103.5 bhp of power and 86 Nm of torque. The motorcycle is also paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The Duke 790 gets plenty of advanced electronic rider aid including motorcycle stability control, multi-level traction control, anti-slip regulation, cornering ABS and launch control etc. There are multiple riding modes on offer as well with the motorcycle including a dedicated track mode.
