A near production ready model of the KTM 390 Adventure was spotted recently that adds more fuel to the rumour of it being launched towards end of 2019
The KTM 390 Adventure is definitely the most anticipated motorcycle of the year 2019. The upcoming adventure tourer will rival directly against the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G310 GS when it finally launches here in India. The KTM 390 Adventure will be manufactured at Bajaj’s plant in Chakan and it will be based on existing KTM architecture.
We have already reported about the almost production ready motorcycle that was spotted testing recently which gives us a hint that KTM will most probably take the covers of the new adventure tourer at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show.
Here are the five things about the KTM 390 Adventure that we know so far:
1. The 390 Adventure will share 390 Duke’s powerplant
The soon to be launched 390 Adventure will be powered by an updated version of the 373cc, single cylinder, DOHC, the liquid cooled engine that also powers the 390 Duke as well. This engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox produces about 43 Bhp of peak power at 9,5000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm on the Duke 390. However, you can expect KTM to retune the unit with revised gearing for offroad use.
2. Takes styling cues from the 790 Adventure
The 390 Adventure takes its styling cues from the 790 Adventure that was unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show last year. The front profile will feature a full LED headlamp setup that can also be found on the 390 Duke as well. The motorcycle will also be fitted with a long travel suspension and cast wheels.
The test mule was spotted with a 19-inch front and 17 inch rear wheels shod with dual purpose tyres. The adventure tourer will also feature a redesigned and well-padded seat and repositioned footrests for a comfortable riding stance. The motorcycle will also get an engine bash guard that will be offered as standard with the motorcycle.
3. Additional features
Like we already mentioned earlier the upcoming 390 Adventure features a full LED lighting setup, a TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity as seen on the Duke counterpart, dual channel ABS safety feature which can also be turned off with a press of a button, dual-purpose tyres, long suspension travel, and an improved ground clearance.
4. The engine will be BS-VI compliant unit
The latest spyshot of the 390 adventure reveals a completely new exhaust setup and a catalytic converter which gives us a hint that the updated engine powering the motorcycle will likely meet the Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission regulations, as well as Euro 5 norms.
5. Pricing and launch date
Although it’s too early to predict the pricing of the upcoming 390 Adventure but you can expect it to be priced under rupees 3 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The current online report states the production ready variant of the KTM 390 Adventure will be unveiled later this year at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy while the official launch will most likely happen in the year 2020.
