In recent years, SUVs are more popular than sedan or any other body style even though these models don’t offer the same level of driving pleasure. Kia Motors has been working on a full sized seven-seat luxury SUV for some time now and the production model is going to be based on Telluride Concept.

Kia Telluride Concept made its official debut at 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and the production model has been spotted for the first time without any camouflage. The company has carried forward the same design theme as the concept model and they have made only minor changes to the exterior.

The front gets signature grille of Kia and wide headlamps from concept model have been replaced by vertically placed projector/LED lights. The LED DRLs are placed on the lower part of the front bumper and a small air-pocket has been given on either side of the bumper to reduce drag. Kia has also given silver finished skid plates at front and rear.

The side design has been carried over from concept model, but the company has given regular door instead of rear-hinged doors, which open in opposite direction like those on Rolls Royce. Kia Telluride also comes with chrome lining on window and mirrors are placed on the door rather than on A-pillar.

The luxury SUV also comes with black plastic cladding, which runs across the body and rear gets vertically placed LED tail lamps. The Telluride also gets dual exhaust, but they are placed on the right side and the SUV comes with an integrated spoiler at the rear. Overall, the exterior design gives a premium feel for the SUV.

The interior will be packed with lots of features, which includes digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, panoramic sunroof and more. The concept model had a plug-in hybrid powertrain and we can expect the production model to be powered by diesel or petrol engines initially. The Telluride will make its debut early next year.
