The upcoming Kia compact SUV will share most of its parts including the platform with Hyundai QXi SUV, which is bound for launch in H2 2019
Kia is all set to enter the Indian market in the year 2019 with a new SUV which will rival directly against the likes of Hyundai Creta. The South Korean auto manufacturer is also planning a second model as well for India which will be a sub four meter SUV.
The smaller SUV will rival directly against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. The new model is already under development and will make its global debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in New Delhi. This will be their global offering and will also be launched in some other Countries as well besides the Indian market.
The reports state that the upcoming SUV will underpin Hyundai’s Qxi SUV platform which is expected to make its debut during the month of March 2018. There are no details of its appearance available yet but it will get a completely different body style unlike any other Kia vehicle.
You can also expect a lot of premium features inside the cabin as well keeping in mind Kia’s reputation of offering posh interiors in almost all their offerings. The cabin will feature some premium features like a big touchscreen infotainment system, comfortable seats, dual zone climate control etc.
As far as some other mechanical bits are concerned the compact SUV will share many of its mechanical bits with the soon to be launched QXi SUV. You can expect not one but at least two or more powertrain options under the hood of the SUV which will be shared with the Hyundai QXi but will be made available in a different state of tune.
Talking about the Hyundai QXi SUV which will launch here in 2019, the sub-four meter SUV will borrow its styling cues from the Carlino concept showcased at the 2016 Auto expo and was spotted recently while it was being tested on Indian road.
