JK Tyre Women’s Rally To The Valley saw a thousand female enthusiats showed up to create awareness over Women equality in society

Yesterday, on the eve of the International Women’s Day, witnessed JK Tyre, Aamby Valley City and Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) organising Mumbai inaugural ‘Women’s Rally to the Valley’. The event was only for women drivers and owners of four-wheeled vehicles and a thousand enthusiasts showed up to celebrate the unique day as well as creating awareness over equality in society and road safety.

The special day saw women drivers driving down the streets of Mumbai and on to Aamby Valley. The awareness rally consisted of over 250 cars being driven by women and they were flagged off from Sahara Star (Domestic Airport) at 8 AM on March 6th. They drove to the centre of the city and passed through some of the popular places.

They winded through Worli Sea Face, Peddar Road, Chowpatty, Marine Drive and Churchgate on their way to the final destination, the Aamby Valley. The road safety event ended with a merry through the closing ceremony and many special guests graced the inspiring campaign to emphasise women’s safety on roads, public travel and in public places.

The President of the world motorsport governing body, Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA) and ex-Ferrari F1 boss, Jean Todt, appeared as the special guest for the inaugural Women’s rally in Mumbai. He was accompanied by Shri Bajoria and Vijay Mallya, Chairman, UB Group.

The unprecedented rally saw seventy seven year old Rajkumari S. Kasliwal being flagged off by the FIA President, Jean Todt. Sneha Sharma, JK Tyre Formula 4 racer was accompanied by Rajkumar Jangid, Zonal Manager West, JK Tyre and Industries Limited and Valsa Nair Singh, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Government of Maharashtra during the commencing of the event.

Several celebrities who stood for women’s equality in the society made their presence felt in the rally with zeal. Some of the notable personalities were Neerja Birla, Tanvi Azmi, rallyists such as Renuka Kripalani, Deepa Damodaran and Navaz Bhathena Sandhu and Katy Bhathena among many others. Several awards are up for grabs for the participants under various categories tomorrow – on the Women’s Day.
