Jeep India website goes live ahead of the Auto Expo 2016, to launch 3 product initially
Jeep India has been one of the most spied vehicles in the premium category segment in India. The entry or lets call it the re-entry was all set to happen in the year 2015. However, due to issues at the back-end of the FCA at their headquarters, mostly related share market decisions and Ferrari listings caused FCA to delay their plans for the our country and concentrate more on this part.
However, today the word is official yet again and this Jeep wants to re-entry by coming at the Auto Expo 2016. Jeep has started operations as of now by bringing up live the website of the India specific venture. FCA will bring, as we know from media reports and spyshots that the entire range will come to India which will have all the iconic products from their stable.
The Jeep vehicle line-up will consist of the Cherokee, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Renegade, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. To meet consumer demand around, Jeep SUV will come with gasoline and diesel powertrain options. We expect the prices to start from the Rs 30 lakhs onwards for the Cherokees with the base four-cylinder diesel engine. Wrangler too will start from the same price point and will have petrol and diesel engine in the iconic off-roading vehicle which is known to do it all.
FCA is betting big this time around with the Jeep brand here in India as it wants to enter into the premium segment which the Germans are holding very well in tight with them. Swedish guys are also here this time and Volvo’s new SUV are pretty good indeed. This should give a helping hand to Fiat in India which is struggling with numbers and volumes as it should gain some momentum.
