Due to the high pricing, Jeep’s initial offerings Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have been unable to grab a good share in the market where SUVs have massive popularity. The automaker is aiming to change the scenario with the upcoming Compass SUV and for that it needs a well organised expanded retail network.

Among the 4,000 approx bookings for Jeep Compass, the top-spec diesel model has received pretty good number of bookings. Deliveries for this model will commence in October this year and the petrol model will start delivery after a few days. The diesel powered automatic transmission equipped car will start reaching showrooms in January next year, with deliveries likely to start in next month.

To capture a sizeable share in the SUV segment of Indian auto market, Jeep is focusing on launching more affordable and smaller models here. The made-in-India Jeep Compass is a vital part of that strategy. At later stage, the brand is expected to bring the Renegade, which will be the smallest and most affordable SUV from the American brand upon its launch here.
