Jeep Compass Sees Huge Price Drop Of Up To Rs. 1.70 Lakh

The price of the entry-level Sport variant of the Jeep Compass has been reduced by Rs. 1.70 lakh as it now costs Rs. 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

The asking price of the Compass has been revised by Jeep in the Indian market this month. The new prices could attract a wide range of buyers as the price of the base variant has been slashed by a whopping Rs. 1.70 lakh. The entry-level Sport grade used to cost Rs. 20.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and courtesy of the price cut, it only costs Rs. 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) now.

Despite the huge price drop to the base variant, other variants have witnessed a price increase of Rs. 14,000. In the domestic market, the Jeep Compass is retailed in a total of six variants namely Sport, Longitude, Night Eagle, Limited, Black Shark, and Model S. The SUV derives power from a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.

It produces a maximum power output of around 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard while a nine-speed torque converter automatic unit is an option. The Longitude variant is now priced at Rs. 22.33 lakh while the Night Eagle costs Rs. 25.18 lakh and Limited at Rs. 26.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Black Shark variant carries a sticker tag of Rs. 26.83 lakh while the Model S is priced at Rs. 28.33 lakh (ex-showroom). The stretched version of the Jeep Compass is sold as the Meridian in India and recently, it saw the reintroduction of the X variant. For an additional cost of Rs. 50,000, it can be accessorised over the base Limited (O) variant.

The exterior gains puddle lamps, side moulding, a programmable ambient lighting system, an air purifier, sunshades and Y-shaped alloy wheels with grey finish and roof rails. On the inside, the Jeep Meridian X receives premium carpet mats but the rear seat entertainment system is optional along with a dash cam.

The facelifted Jeep Meridian is currently under development and it will feature a revised exterior with changes to the bumper, grille, etc. The cabin will come with new features including Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It will be launched in the coming months.
