Gaadiwaadi has learnt that the Jeep Compass Limited Plus will launch in India on September 20. Many dealers are taking bookings for the new flagship variant for Rs. 51,000. The new flagship variant will offer many new features, which should make the high-selling SUV even more popular.
Jeep India’s website shows the Limited Plus variant is ‘coming soon’. The launch of the new trim is in line with company’s plans of keep the Compass brand relevant to the market. Steve Zanlunghi, Head of Jeep (APAC region), has earlier said that the company plans to keep the Compass “fresh and alive” with the launch of “different variants”.
The exterior of the Jeep Compass Limited Plus carries a dual-tone paint theme. The biggest update comes in the form of the electric panoramic sunroof. With this, the Limited Plus will become the only variant of Jeep India’s most popular model to offer an electric sunroof. The new top-end variant will also get a set of new design alloy wheels.
The interior will get a new tan leather upholstery. The front seats will be electrically adjustable and will have a memory feature. The cabin will be equipped with six airbags. The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit of the existing trims will be replaced with an 8.4-inch unit. The bigger screen, until now, was available only on the export-spec models.
Mechanical specifications will remain unchanged. The diesel variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that will output a maximum power of 173 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. It will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The petrol engine will displace 1.4-litres and will offer two transmission options – 6-speed manual and seven-seat dual clutch automatic. Only the diesel variants will offer an optional four wheel drive configuration.
The launch of the Jeep Compass Limited Plus will be followed by the Trailhawk model early next year. The Limited Plus trim is expected to have an ex-showroom base price of Rs 22 lakh.
