Jaguar XE India Launch on 3rd February, expected to be priced around Rs. 38 Lakh rivaling A4, 3-series and C-class

Jaguar calls the XE as its most advanced sport sedan ever produced. It is the first compact executive car manufactured by the British luxury car maker since 2009 and has been built on aluminium-intensive monocoque structure that enhances chassis strength and torsion rigidity.

XE will be the most affordable Jaguar sold in the domestic market and was spotted testing without camouflage near the ARAI testing facility in Pune back in November 2015. Bookings began for the torque on-demand Jaguar XE AWD sedan which the company calls ‘a true all-weather sports saloon’ in the UK.

The executive compact luxury sedan has been confirmed to make Indian debut at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. With less than a month away, the XE has been caught undisguised once again. With all gratitude to the AutoCar reader, the latest spyshots revealed that the base variant of the XE as it didn’t feature xenon headlamps and LED daytime running lights.

Dealers have started accepting bookings at Rs. 1 lakh and deliveries are believed to commence from February 20th onwards. Here’s all the vital information you need to know about the compact luxury sedan:

The Jaguar XE is confirmed to Launched on 3rd February . An aggressive price tag of around Rs. 38 lakh is expected as the car is to be assembled at JLR’s production facility in Pune to stand toe-to-toe with the segment leading Mercedes C-class.

Engine & Specification

The Jaguar XE will have three engine options: a 2.0-litre petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel and a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 seen on the F-Type. The all-new, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre diesel unit from the Ingenium family comprises two states of tune: one producing 160bhp and 380Nm of torque and the other 178bhp and 430Nm of torque.

The 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine delivering 335hp remains doubtful as Indian buyers prefer diesel variants. All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with active and passive suspension techs. It can sprint from 0-100kmph in 5.1 seconds and can go all the way up to 250kmph.

Dimension:
The sporty Jag measures about 4,672mm in length, 2,075mm in width, 1,416mm in height and 2,835mm in wheelbase. It has a fuel tank capacity of 63 litres and 455 litres of bootspace.

Exterior Designing:
The Jaguar XE derives styling cues from XF sedan. It has broader shoulder lines and huge grille across the Leaping Cat emblem. It delivers a very low drag co-efficient of 0.26 Cd as body style is inspired by the F-type sports car to confirm with its sporty appeal.

Colours:
There are two non-metallic colours on offer for the British market: Ebony Black and Polaris White. Metallic colours available are Ammonite Grey, Bluefire, Dark Sapphire Metallic, Glacier White, Odyssey Red, Osmium Blue, Quartzite, Rhodium Silver, Ultimate Black, Black Cherry, Celestial Black, Ingot, Storm Grey and Tempest Grey.

Interior:
It comes with new iConnect Touch Pro infotainment system with 10.2-inch touchscreen that plays music on-the-go and guides your destination in addition to an improved tech system and a WiFi hotspot for up to eight devices and Apple Watch connectivity. The XE will have brand new electronically assisted power steering and more significantly built on IQ architecture with a modular aluminium-intensive monocoque body shell enhancing strength and torsion rigidity.

Safety Features:
If Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) detects slippery surface, torque is sent to all four wheels whilst it’s normally rear-wheel driven to conserve fuel. Adaptive Surface Response remaps engine and stability Control; Configurable Dynamics allows throttle response, gearshift speed and adaptive dampers can be tuned as per drivers’ need.

Lane Keep Assist, an Adaptive Speed Limiter and a Driver Condition Monitor are other safety features offered. The active suspension learns the road surface and adjusts the dampers to make for a better ride.
