
Jaguar I-Pace won the award competing with rivals like Infiniti QX50, Subaru Ascent and Volkswagen Passat GT
Jaguar I-Pace wins the Most Significant Concept vehicle of 2017 award at the Concours d’Elegance of America. The car also won the award in the Production Preview Concepts category by beating rivals like Infiniti QX50, Subaru Ascent and Volkswagen Passat GT. In other segments, Aston Martin Valkyrie won the award in the Concept Car segment beating Cadillac Escala, Chrysler Portal, and Nissan V-motion 2.0.
The award has another category – Concept Trucks and in this segment Genesis GV80 and Volkswagen I.D. Buzz became the joint winners. Speaking about the jaguar I-Pace sport four door model, it has already entered production in Austria and expected to go on sale in late 2017. This car is claimed to have the performance capability of F-type R sportscar and electric range of 500 kilometre.

With this I-Pace electric SUV, jaguar aims to take on the Tesla Model X that has earned positive response in the American market. Also, it will lock horns with the Audi e-Tron SUV and Mercedes EQ electric SUV. The car’s electric powertrains will deliver power to all the four wheels. For that it will have two electric motors each powering one axle.
The electric motors will be connected to a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The concept model was claimed to capable of producing 400 hp of combined power output, with each electric motor capable of generating 200 hp and the vehicle was claimed to have 700 Nm of massive torque output.

Speaking about the Jaguar I-Pace’s performance, this electric SUV is capable of accelerating 0-100 kmph in just 4 seconds. Jaguar used an in-house built battery architecture and this vehicle gets low mounted battery pack that ensures low centre of gravity improving handling quality of the car. Dimensionally, the Jaguar I-Pace measures 4,680 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height. The electric SUV is expected to offer a spacious interior ensuring comfort and luxurious experience for the occupants.
