Bajaj introduced single-channel ABS for the Avenger 160 in India and it is Rs. 5,000 cheaper than the Avenger 180
Bajaj has officially launched the ABS variant of Avenger 160 in India at Rs. 82,253 (Ex-Showroom). The new model is almost Rs. 5,000 cheaper than the now discontinued 180 variant and the initial batches are reaching dealerships.
The company has given single-channel ABS braking system for the Avenger 160 as dual-channel ABS unit would have increased the price significantly. Bajaj adopted this strategy for most of its products and the Avenger 160 also comes with rear-wheel lift protection sensor, which is also useful during hard braking.
Apart from the introduction of the ABS braking system, Bajaj did not make any other changes for the Avenger Street 160 ABS as it comes with a round-shaped headlamp with integrated LED DRL in it. The handlebar is positioned slightly higher and the seat height is lower along with a forward set foot pegs giving a comfortable riding position.
The Avenger Street 160 ABS comes with a single seat but the pillion seat is slightly raised and the rear gets regular tail lamp instead of LEDs. The engine and wheels are finished in black colour as it gives a unique look for the Avenger Street 160 ABS. Bajaj is currently offering the Avenger 160 ABS in just two colour options – black and red.
The instrument cluster is the same unit from the Avenger 180 as the speedometer is analogue while all other information is displayed on the small digital screen. The suspension duties are taken care off by telescopic forks at the front and dual-gas charged suspension at the rear, which is tuned for comfort.
The Avenger Street 160 ABS is powered by 160.3 cc single cylinder engine producing 15.3 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The cruiser bike comes with 260 mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear. The company has given 17-inch wheel at front and 15-inch at the rear.
