India-Made Mercedes GLC Launched From Rs. 47.90 Lakh

India-Made Mercedes-Benz GLC, the ninth local product, comes Rs. 2 lakh cheaper now for the 220d 4MATIC Style variant

German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has launched made-in-India GLC SUV at a starting price of Rs. 47.90 lakh, and it goes up to Rs. 51.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car was launched in India in June this year, which came as a CBU unit, but to keep the price down, Mercedes decided to produce the car locally in the country. This way, GLC’s waiting period becomes reduced, and the pricing also, as the GLC 220d 4MATIC Style comes Rs. 2 lakh cheaper now.

Presently, GLC is the ninth product from Mercedes-Benz in India in its local production portfolio, as it is built in the company’s state-of-the-art Chakan plant near Pune. In terms of design, Mercedes-Benz GLC looks attractive and stylish. It features a three-dimensional front grille with twin horizontal thick slats, LED high-performance headlamps, muscular bumper with large air dams, and skid plate.

Apart from that, the GLC also features muscular shoulders, sharp contours, bold 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and at rear, the car sports split LED taillights which are inspired by AMG GT, and also twin exhaust vents with chrome garnishing. The GLC SUV shares lots of design cues with the C-Class.

Interior of Mercedes-Benz GLC also features similarity with its C-Class sedan sibling. The premium interior sports a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with features like 20 CD stereo, 2 USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. This infotainment system also offers a 360-degree view of the car. In terms of luxury and space, GLC doesn’t compromise at all. It also offers 550-litres of bootspace, which can be expanded up to 1600-litres.

Mercedes-Benz GLC is one of the safest cars in the country. It has received 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, which is the highest rating available so far. It is equipped with safety features like 7 airbags, adaptive brake lights, parking assist, hill decent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking assist etc.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol variant is powered by a 2.0-litre engine which kicks out 245 hp of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 370 Nm of peak torque in between 1,300 rpm and 4,000 rpm. It can reach 0-100 kmph in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 222 kmph. On the other hand, diesel variant takes power from a 2.2-litre engine which generates 170 hp of peak power in between 3,000 rpm and 4,200 rpm and 400 Nm of peak torque between 1,400 rpm and 2,800 rpm. It accelerates 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.
