Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace gets updated with similar changes to the regular Tiguan variant sold in Europe
The regular wheelbase version of the Tiguan received a facelift in Europe midway through last year while the LWB version called the Allspace in the Old Continent has now gained its update. The Allspace is the standard Tiguan in North America and it gets a revised exterior and interior along with the addition of new features and technologies.
In a similar fashion to the Euro-spec facelift, the Volkswagen Tiguan gets cosmetic changes including new LED headlamps, lighting bar running across the grille as in the eighth-gen Golf and recently facelifted Polo, optional IQ.Lights with matrix LED tech, redesigned LED tail lamps, new 4Motion badge, and repositioned Tiguan badge.
In addition, the high-end R-Line trim gets a sportier makeover with new bumpers up front and rear, piano black inserts and chrome accents all around. It will be offered in a total of eight colour schemes and the wheels range from 17- to 20-inchers. As for the dimensions, the updated Tiguan is 20 mm longer than the outgoing model but the interior space remains unaltered.
The bootspace capacity stands at 1,920 litres and is only available with an FWD layout in America. The cabin comes with a standard eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, optional 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, increased use of haptic buttons, heated and ventilated leather seats, optional lightbar in the door and so on.
In the United States, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan comes with a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing a maximum power output of 184 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to either two wheels or all four wheels. Along with the same powertrain in a different configuration, a 1.5-litre petrol making 147 hp is also available in Europe.
A 2.0-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, makes 147 hp or 197 hp while the 315 hp Tiguan R is ruled out for America. As for assistive and safety tech, it gains adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, Forward Collision Warning with autonomous braking and side assist, etc. The updated LWB Tiguan will be manufactured in four places around the globe.
In India, the Tiguan Allspace is sold with a single petrol engine and it could gain similar updates in the near future but the facelifted regular Tiguan had already been unveiled ahead of launch.
