Volkswagen T-Cross SUV’s bookings have commenced in Europe and it will be available with 1.0-litre turbo petrol in two configurations

Volkswagen has commenced bookings for the brand new T-Cross SUV in the European market. The small SUV targets young customers and is definitely going after volumes. It is one of the key prospects for the company to further grow its sales figures across the globe. In Europe, the Volkswagen T-Cross is made available with a smaller 1.0-litre turbocharged TFSI petrol engine in two different guises.

The entry-level variants will be sold with 93 horsepower version and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the higher variants can be had with a 113 horsepower version of the same engine but it is connected to a six-speed manual transmission with the option of dual-clutch seven-speed automatic unit. Each powertrain choice comes equipped with gasoline particulate filter.

The German auto major does not offer all-wheel-drive configuration even as option with the T-Cross though to keep the price range and production costs down. However, Volkswagen does offer 1st Edition limited production run models. Only 200 examples will be up for grabs and the winners will be picked via lottery as a special event for delivery is being planned at Autostadt Wolfsburg on April 2019.

The T-Cross sits at the bottom of the brand’s SUV lineup below the T-Roc and uses the flexible MQB A0 platform just as the latest generation Polo sold elsewhere. Volkswagen has made a big deal about the T-Cross’ features and its practicality as an everyday SUV even before its launch through a barrage of teaser videos.
