The next-gen Volkswagen Tiguan is on its way and has been spied sans camouflage while on test runs in the United States

The Volkswagen Tiguan, one of the highest-selling models for the German brand globally, is now due for a major update. The test mule of the upcoming next-gen model has been spied testing on foreign soil and will likely make its international debut by early 2024. For reference, the Tiguan Facelift was launched in India back in December 2021.

Upcoming Next-Gen Volkswagen Tiguan: What’s New?

This is not the first time that the German 7-seater SUV has been spied on test runs. In terms of exterior design, the new-gen model doesn’t seem too different from the current model, however, there are plenty of alternations to the overall styling. Upfront, a new bolder front grille sits between the headlights, which are quite similar to the current model.

Coming down, the lower part of the bumper has been given a major revamp with a prominent lower grille and vertical air curtains. In addition to this, a subtle front splitter is also a part of the package.

Coming to the sides, changes are quite minimalistic except for the new design for alloy wheels. The overall silhouette is more or less the same, while the rear profile gets new tail lamps enclosed in the same housing. The rear bumper gets a sharp appearance with more defined creases for a cleaner look.

As per the media reports, the next-gen Volkswagen Tiguan will use a modified version of the existing platform, however, nothing concrete can be said as of now. In terms of powertrain, it will continue to use the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine putting out 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. This is the engine we expect Volkswagen to offer in India, while a plug-in hybrid option is also on cards for international markets.

Next-Gen Tiguan-3

Talking about its launch timeline, the three-row SUV will likely launch in India soon after its international debut which is slated for early 2024. Once launched, the next-gen Tiguan will rekindle its rivalry with Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and Citroen C5 Aircross amongst others.
