New-gen Renault Duster is expected to make its global debut next year before going on sale in India by the middle of this decade

The all-new Duster is being developed by Renault overseas and it will likely be unveiled as a Dacia first in Europe. The five-seater will hit the Indian market by the middle of this decade and it will be heavily localised. The Renault-Nissan alliance will invest a hefty sum of money to localise the CMF-B platform in India with local customers in mind.

The third-gen Dacia Duster will undoubtedly take its design inspiration from the Bigster concept and the spy images do suggest the same. For those who cannot wait for its market launch in a couple of years, here is a speculative rendering of the new-gen midsize SUV based on the test prototypes and it does have a strong road presence.

In India, the French auto major is expected to launch the new-gen Duster in five- and seven-seater guises. The front fascia shows a sleeker headlamp section with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights and the grille is sportier with premium inserts. The thoroughly redesigned bumper gains wider air intake and a skid plate.

The more prominent bonnet is heavily creased and on the sides, new wheel arch cladding, newly designed alloy wheels, angular rear quarter glass and new roof rails can be seen. The rear features Y-shaped LED tail lamps as in the Bigster concept, an integrated spoiler, an upright bootlid and a new skid plate.

Compared to the existing model, the upcoming Duster will have bigger dimensions and the interior will be more upmarket with the addition of new features and technologies. The dynamic abilities of the new-gen Duster will also be better than the current-gen. An AWD system will be sold in the global markets and it’s unknown if it will make its way to India or not.

In the international markets, a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.6L petrol/hybrid system will be available. In India, it will spawn a Nissan sibling and both will take on Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and so on.
