BMW showcased the second generation of X4 at 2018 Chengdu Motor Show and Chinese debut took place at Auto China earlier this year. The new BMW X4 made its global debut at 2018 Geneva Motor Show and it is based on CLAR RWD platform. The company has given an evolutionary design theme for the new generation model.
The new BMW X4 gets big kidney grille along with LED headlamps and muscular bumper at front. The side design continues to be the same with the big wheel arches and a coupe-ish roof line. The new model now comes wit19-inch alloy wheels as standard. BMW has given new LED tail lamps, which looks really good and dual tone bumper at the rear.
The new BMW X4 is 81 mm longer, 37 mm wider and 3 mm closer to ground. The company has also increased wheelbase by 54 mm, which will improve interior space and legroom for rear passenger increased by 25.4 mm, but headroom will be low because of coupe design. The company has also managed to reduce aerodynamic drag by 10 per cent.
The interior design is shared with other BMW models and the company has given 12-inch digital instrument cluster as standard on the new BMW X4 along with new 10.25 touchscreen i-drive infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, some of the features on X4 include new three-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof and Vernasca leather upholstery.
The new BMW X4 comes with lots of advanced safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, 360-degree camera system, Daytime pedestrian protection system, Frontal Collision with City Collision Mitigation, Side Collision Avoidance and more.
The new BMW X4 comes with 8-speed automatic transmission and xDrive AWD system as standard. BMW X4 is available with 2.0 L and 3.0 L petrol and diesel engines in different power outputs. We are expecting BMW India to introduce the second generation X4 by the middle of 2019.
