The upcoming MG SUV will come with a portrait touchscreen infotainment system and the interior will be loaded with features
MG Motor is going to launch its first product in India next year and it will be an SUV based on the Baojun 530 sold in China. The Indonesian market is also going to get this same SUV under Wuling brand and earlier leaked reports confirmed that it will be named as Almaz. The interior of the upcoming MG SUV has been spotted for the first time.
MG has taken inspirations from Volvo and Tesla as the company has given portrait touchscreen infotainment system and this screen controls the climate control along with other functions also. The infotainment system comes with connectivity options like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Mirror Link, Bluetooth and more.
The interface might be different as it will depend on region and the instrument cluster also get a MID display in the middle, which gives lots of information about the vehicle. The steering wheel is expected to be a three-spoke unit with controls for audio and other functions integrated into it. The company has given black and beige combination for the interior.
The model spotted might be a full option variant with automatic transmission and it comes with push-button start as it is visible behind the steering wheel. The AC vents get an aluminium finish while the centre console get a black finish. In India, MG is benchmarking the interior with Hyundai Tucson and we can expect quality to be good.
The SUV also comes with segment first 360-degree camera system and the company will pack the interior with lots of features to lure buyers from its competitors. The exterior design theme will be different to Almaz sold in Indonesia as the major difference will be the front grille as the SUV gets signature MG grille.
In India, MG will be offering two engine options like the 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine producing 168 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. The 2.0 L diesel engine will be sourced from FCA and it produces 170 hp and 350 Nm, these engines will be mated to manual and auto gearbox with the optional four-wheel drive system.
