The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq will likely be launched in the final quarter of this year in India; Kodiaq RS, Kodiaq L&K and Kodiaq Sportline variants revealed

Skoda has today unveiled the 2021 Kodiaq facelift globally and it will go on sale around July in Europe before reaching other markets including India. The 2021 Kodiaq features plenty of changes over the outgoing model, from the design as well as the technical specifications.

Starting with the exterior styling, the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq sports a hexagonal front grille, which is more upright than before. The SUV also gets restyled headlamps (likely with matrix LED setup) and LED DRLs. The rear section features a new pair of crystalline LED taillights, sleeker than before, and new alloy wheels as well.

The Kodiaq RS, L&K and Sportline saw the light during the unveiling event. The Kodiaq RS in particular loses out on the twin turbo diesel and in its place, a 2.0-litre TSI is utilised producing 245 horsepower as in the Octavia RS and is paired with a seven-speed DSG. It is also 60 kg lighter to offer better handling characteristics.

The Octavia RS makes 370 Nm peak torque and it will be interesting to see what the Kodiaq RS will have as the diesel pumped out 500 Nm. A 1.5-litre turbo TSI petrol developing 150 horsepower, connected to a six-speed MT is a likely choice for India while a 2.0-litre TSI will also be available elsewhere making 190 hp.

The 2.0-litre Evo TDI will also be on offer in two different states of tune: 150 hp and 200 hp. A seven-speed DSG will be part of the package along with an optional AWD configuration. The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq will make its way to India as well, as confirmed by Zac Hollis, Director of Sales, Service and Marketing at Skoda Auto India.

It is expected to arrive in our market sometime during the fourth quarter of this year, and upon launch, it will rival the likes of VW Tiguan Allspace, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Gloster. Before the Kodiaq facelift’s arrival in the Indian market, Skoda will launch two other models here – the new-generation Octavia and the new Kushaq. The former is slated to launch later this month, while the latter will go on sale in June 2021.

The interior gets optional ergonomic seats with heating and massage function is wrapped in perforated leather, eco seats made using recycled vegetable materials in some variants, new two-spoke steering wheel, LED ambient lighting, new Canton sound system with ten speakers, latest 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connective features.
