2019 Lexus ES Revealed 7

Design of seventh generation ES takes inspirations from the new LS; the first Lexus on TNGA platform is dimensionally larger than outgoing model

Lexus officially revealed seventh generation of ES at the Beijing Motor Show. The new ES is based on Toyota’s K platform which is developed from TNGA architecture which the LS is based on. This same platform is already used by Camry and Avalon, but Lexus has improved structural rigidity by extra reinforcements on the chassis.

The ES is lighter than the outgoing model thanks to the use of high strength steel but the company hasn’t mentioned the exact weight loss. Lexus has increased the length of ES by 65 mm, width by 45 mm and height reduced by 5 mm. The wheelbase of ES has been increased by 50 mm and wheels are now pushed to the corners to increase space and stability of ES.

The ES continues to be front wheel drive while most of the competitors are either rear wheel or all wheel drive. The design of seventh generation ES took inspirations from the new generation LS. The spindle grille finished in chrome with Lexus logo in the middle and sleek looking headlamps all gives the impression of smaller LS.

The side is simple with mirrors placed on the door instead of the pillar. The rear design also continues the ES theme with LED tail lamps and new bumper giving a premium feel for the ES. The interior of ES is sporty compared to the exterior as the 12.3 inch infotainment screen and the centre console is angled towards driver.
