Like the hatchback model, the Hyundai i20 Active facelift also gets a completely new rear with redesigned tail lamps
Hyundai officially launched Elite i20 facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo but the company hasn’t revealed i20 Active facelift model. Now the company took wraps of i20 Active for European market and we are getting the same model in India also.
Compared to the hatchback version, i20 Active misses out new front grille and the bumper has been carried over from previous model. The side continues to be same but the alloy wheel design is different from the current model.
Like the hatchback model, the i20 Active also gets a completely new rear. The tail gate has been completely redesigned with new tail lamps and number plate is now placed on the tail gate instead of the bumper. Hyundai has also given new rear bumper and faux skid plates. The Korean manufacturer also introduced new dual tone colour scheme in which the roof is finished in Phantom black colour.
The interior of i20 Active continues the same design theme from pre-facelift model. But the infotainment system has been updated and comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. Hyundai i20 Active facelift model continues the long list of features like climate control, key less entry, push button start, projector headlamps, LED DRLs and more. We can also expect all these features to be carried forward to India spec model also.
In Europe, i20 Active is powered by 1.4 L petrol engine producing 100 hp and 1.0 L turbo charged petrol engine producing 120 hp. The diesel engine continues to be 1.4 L unit producing 90 ps of power. These engines are mated to 5 speed manual or 6 speed manual or 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. To improve efficiency, Hyundai is offering start-stop system standard on i20 Active.
In India, Hyundai will continue to offer 1.2 L petrol engine producing 82 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000. The diesel engine is same 1.4 L unit from current model producing 90 ps of power and 220 Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to 5 speed manual and diesel to 6 speed manual. We can expect Hyundai to offer automatic transmission with facelift model to make it stand out of the competition. Hyundai i20 Active is expected to be launched later this year in India.
