The Honda HR-V facelift for Europe debuts with new 1.5 L turbo petrol engine along with 1.6 L diesel and naturally aspired 1.5 L i-VTEC engine

Honda officially revealed HR-V facelift for Europe and it is exactly similar to the model sold in Asian countries, but the company took sometime to introduce it in Europe. The HR-V for Europe debuts with new 1.5 L i-VTEC turbocharged petrol engine, but it will be available only in 2019.

The company hasn’t revealed power output but this same engine in CR-V produces 173 hp with manual transmission and 193 hp with CVT. The HR-V also comes with naturally aspirated 1.5 L i-VTEC engine producing 130 hp of power and 155 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to 6 speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox as an option. 0-60 kph IS dealt in 10.7 sec with manual transmission and 11.2 sec with CVT gearbox.

The engineers reduced the friction between cylinder bore and pistons to improve efficiency. Honda is also offering 1.6 L turbo diesel with HR-V, which is already available with Civic and CR-V. This engine will be offered in 2019 alongside new turbocharged petrol engine.

The exterior changes on HR-V is minor as the company has given new chrome finished front grille with revised bumper and new fog lamp housing. The rear also gets new bumper with tweaked tail lamps and new 17 inch alloy wheels. The top end variant of HR-V comes with LED headlamp and tail lamps.

The interior changes for HR-V includes new front seats with better support for shoulder area.

Honda has also used higher quality fabric for entry level models and top end models come with leather upholstery. For the first time, HR-V comes with Active Noise Cancellation (ANS) along with extra insulating materials in wheel arches, boot structure and front & rear door panels. We are expecting Honda to introduce HR-V next year or in 2020 in India.
