Hyundai Xcent and Grand i10 sales up in July by 65% and 38% respectively

Hyundai Motor India Limited is celebrating its two decades in the country. Since the launch of HMIL’s first car Santro the South Korean auto major has been pretty successful in Indian market. Now buoyed with the success of several models in the Indian market the company plans to launch two cars per year in the country. Meanwhile in July, 2016 the company has seen a mixed sales result.

Hyundai Xcent sits in the compact sedan segment, which is one of the most competitive segment in Indian domestic market. The Xcent has seen a rise by 65% in terms sales in last month. Compared to 2,772 units sold in same period last year the car has sold 4585 units in last month.

Despite being quite old the Grand i10 is still in business. Surprisingly, the stylish hatchback has seen a 38% rise in sales with 11,961 units sold in July, 2016. In the same period last year the car sold 8,691 units. The Hyundai i10 meanwhile has seen 39% decline with 1,335 units sold in July, 2016; compared to 2,204 units sold in 2015.

Hyundai Eon is the entry level hatchback from the automaker. This car has also seen a 14% decline in the sales chart with 3,792 units sold in last month. The Hyundai Verna has recorded 22% growth with 1,614 units sold in July 2016. Meanwhile the Hyundai Elantra has sold not a single unit last month compared to 166 units in July, last year.

Hyundai launched the Creta last year, which garnered immense popularity in very short time. The Creta has also seen a growth by 18%. The car sold 7.981 units in July 2016 compared to 6,783 units in same period last year. So far, the South Koran auto manufacturer has recorded 13% growth overall with 41,201 units sold in last July, compared to 36,503 units sold in same month last year.
