Hyundai Verna posted a domestic tally of 3,687 units in May 2023 as against 1,488 units with a YoY positive sales growth of 148 per cent
In the month of May 2023, Hyundai Motor India Limited’s Verna finished on top of the sales charts with a domestic tally of 3,687 units as against 1,488 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive sales growth of 148 per cent. The Skoda Slavia was the second most sold midsize sedan in the country last month.
The Slavia posted 1,695 unit sales last month as against 2,466 units during the corresponding period in 2022 with a YoY negative volume growth of 31 per cent. The Volkswagen Virtus finished in the third position with a total of 1,631 units as against 2,177 units in May 2022 with a YoY sales decline of 25 per cent.
The fifth generation Honda City could only manage to finish fourth as 1,532 units were registered against 3,628 units during the same period twelve months ago with a YoY volume de-growth of 58 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz finished in the fifth position with a domestic tally of 992 units as against 586 units in May 2022.

This led to a YoY positive sales surge of 69 per cent. The new generation Hyundai Verna made its market debut a few months ago and it has been well received by customers. It gets a whole host of revisions inside and out. The exterior is based on the latest Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy as it is heavily influenced by the global Elantra.
In addition, the interior has gained a number of new features and technologies including ADAS-based driver-assistive and safety tech. As for the performance, the 1.5L four-cylinder NA petrol engine producing a maximum power output of 115 PS and 144 Nm is available while the 1.5L turbo diesel engine is no longer on sale.
An all-new 1.5L turbo petrol engine will satisfy the requirements of performance-based enthusiasts and is also offered in an expansive range. It kicks out 160 PS and 253 Nm and is linked with a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
