Hyundai Santro will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid in the competitive entry-level space, can be booked online from tomorrow
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is all set to introduce the brand new version of the Santro. The revival of one of the household names among domestic customers is expected to bring in huge volumes for Hyundai and it sticks by the tallboy design philosophy of the original model.
The all-new Santro is based on the HA platform of the last generation i10 and it has been modified to suit the upcoming safety standards. The All new Hyundai Santro is powered by updated 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 69 PS and 99 Nm of peak torque.
The only powertrain choice of the All new Hyundai Santro is connected to either a conventional five-speed manual or Hyundai’s first five-speed AMT in the form of ‘Smart Auto’. The second largest automaker in the country has grafted the interior well to allow for upmarket features while the visual elements are nothing short of appealing.
With online bookings starting on October 10, dealerships will commence pre-bookings ahead of the new Santro’s market entry on October 23. The hatchback targets first-time buyers looking to own a well packed machine and it will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago in the highly competitive space.
The new Hyundai Santro measures 3,610 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, and has 1,560 mm height with ground clearance of 160 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,400 mm that should allow good room for five adults inside the cabin while the bootspace of 235 litres is similar to the Celerio.
The important features that will be on offer in the new Hyundai Santro are a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera and sensors, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted controls, 14-inch steel wheels, dual front airbags in the top end, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder and speed alert function, etc.
