Hyundai Venue will be sold in three engine options and comes with segment-first seven-speed DCT automatic transmission
Hyundai Motor India Ltd has commenced the pre-bookings of the upcoming Venue yesterday and it can be ordered via dealerships or online with an initial token of Rs. 21,000. The Venue has been one of the long-awaited SUVs in the domestic market and its initial response has been nothing short of impressive.
The South Korean auto major has sent out a statement today revealing that the Venue has created history with “record booking” in the opening day. At an average of 84 SUVs every hour, Hyundai says the sub-four-metre SUV has achieved over 2,000 customers on the 2nd of May.
Mr. Vikas Jain, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said that the Venue has been receiving customer enquiries at all of the brand’s touch points across the country and high traction on online booking is coming from semi-urban parts of India for the upcoming SUV.
The Venue will go on sale on May 21 and it will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and the recently launched Mahindra XUV300. The five-seater will be retailed with three powertrain choices – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel.
The all-new turbocharged petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 120 PS and 172 Nm and is mated to a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine develops 83 PS and 116 Nm and is connected only to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.4-litre diesel, on the other hand, pumps out 90 PS and 220 Nm and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The Venue will be offered with several segment-first features and chief among which is the Blue Link connectivity with embedded SIM card allowing for 33 connective features. Hyundai expects to sell 8,000-9,000 units of the Venue monthly in the first year.
