The Hyundai Palisade will be a massive SUV that will be bigger than the Santa Fe, will have design cues taken from the HDC-2 concept

World over, car manufacturers are revamping their strategies to come up with cars that can be accepted in several markets throughout the globe. In spite of the continuous efforts, the one-model-suit-all doesn’t suit the tastes of all the buyers. For example, some big SUVs on sale in the United States don’t find preference anywhere else. We are talking about models like Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Atlas, and the Dodge Durango.

From next year, however, there will be a new model that will go up against all the above models. We are talking about a South Korean SUV in the form of the Hyundai Palisade. While the company is yet to confirm this name, it has high chances of making it to the production model.

The rendering you see here is based on the several spy images and the design cues seen on the HDC-2 concept that was shown in June last year.  It is said that HDC-2 has previewed several design cues that will make it to the production model.

It is because of this very reason that the rendering artist has used the HDC-2’s face his speculative illustration. He has imagined the upcoming SUV with a similar look that comprises the same set of thin headlights. The rear window pillar seems to have been inspired by the Mercedes GLE.

The positioning of the fog light seems to have been inspired by the latest generation Santa Fe. Other than this, the SUV could even feature design cues that we have seen on the Kona and some other new products from the Seoul-based manufacturer.

Underpinning the Hyundai Palisade will be a platform that is likely to come from the stables of Kia. The new model should borrow aplenty from the Kia Telluride. It will even offer similar drivetrain options – front wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

What’s more, even the engine could be carried over, with power coming from a detuned version of the 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine that powers the very delicious Kia Stinger. The motor is likely to come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

On the inside, the Hyundai Palisade should come with the latest driving assistance systems and bits like heated seats and multi-zone climate control.
