Hyundai posted 48,601 units in the month of May 2023 against 42,293 units during the same period last year with a YoY growth of close to 15 per cent
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) posted a domestic tally of 48,601 units in the month of May 2023 against 42,293 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive sales growth of close to 15 per cent. The second largest carmaker in the country garnered a market share of 14.5 per cent and it endured an MoM de-growth of 2.2 per cent.
The Hyundai Creta finished on top of the sales table with a total of 14,449 units against 10,973 units in May 2022 with a YoY positive sales increase of 32 per cent. It was also the most sold SUV in the country last month while Hyundai’s Venue recorded an impressive tally too. The compact SUV posted 10,213 unit sales against 8,300 units.
This led to a positive YoY sales growth of 23 per cent. The Grand i10 Nios finished in the third position with a total of 6,385 units last month as against 9,138 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY negative sales growth of 30 per cent. The i20 premium hatchback finished in the fourth position.

The five-seater registered a total of 6,094 units against 4,463 units with a YoY growth of 37 per cent. The Aura compact sedan slotted in at fifth with a total of 4,707 units in May 2023 as against 3,311 units during the same period last year with a YoY sales increase of 42 per cent. In the second half of the table, the Verna finished in the sixth position.
The new generation Verna was introduced only a few months ago and it has been well received by consumers. The midsize sedan recorded 3,687 units against 1,488 units in May 2022 with a YoY positive volume increase of 148 per cent. The Alcazar three-row SUV could only manage seventh with a total of 2,443 units against 1,947 units in May 2022.
The Hyundai Tucson finished eighth ahead of Ioniq 5 and Kona Electric. The former garnered 160 units while the latter managed a total of 84 units.
