Future Genesis models to draw inspiration from GV80 concept; three new RWD cars to launch by 2020

Genesis GV80 concept that debuted at the New York Auto Show early this year is expected to inspire the future cars from the luxury brand. As the Hyundai owned car manufacturer says, it is separating itself from its owner group in order to create a distinctive and unique identity in the world of luxury cars. It also says that the GV80 concept previewed the future design elements of the Genesis models.

As Genesis chief designer Luc Donckerwolke has said, the front grille, headlamps and taillights of the future cars of this brand will be inspired by GV80 concept and they will be the brand’s signature styling elements. As we saw the Genesis GV80 concept, it had a large and unique shaped bold looking front grille, heavily inspired by the brand logo.

The Genesis GV80 concept also had sleek quad LED headlamps with very much unconventional appearance, as they looked like jewel stripes. The taillights too are unique looking. While this was about the future design language of Genesis models, the automaker has also hinted that it is about to change its strategy of launching cars exclusively with Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD).

Genesis is currently working on three different models that will be launched by 2020 and all of these cars will carry Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) layout. On the powertrain front, the brand is focusing on electrification as well, considering the futuristic greener mobility solutions. Speaking about the GV80 concept, it was displayed with a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain that is capable of delivering impressive performance along with great efficiency.

The Genesis GV80 concept gets a large and wide 22-inch OLED display divided in two different zones for the driver and the front passenger. Apart from that, it also has an informative and large instrument cluster with digital display. Premium quality seat and upholstery materials along with generous amount of space are there inside the cabin.
