Hyundai LaFesta is a China-only 4-door-coupe-liftback model with an Italian name that means ‘Festival’
South Korean auto giant Hyundai has showcased its brand new LaFesta sedan at the ongoing Chengdu Motor Show. Team Gaadiwaadi has just attended the new car’s unveiling at the Chinese motor show and here are our exclusive images along with details of the new Hyundai LaFesta liftback.
The Hyundai LaFesta is a brand new model that is meant strictly for the Chinese market. The liftback styling, along with a coupe-ish roofline, gives it a really very dynamic look. Hyundai says that the new model is meant for the young and dynamic Chinese car buyers. We don’t disagree as the car really looks quite youthful and sporty.
For the uninitiated, the word ‘LaFesta’ translates to ‘festival’ in Italian. Hyundai says the new car is meant for the young audience who wants to celebrate life. The Hyundai LaFesta will launch in China in the last quarter of 2018. The new car has been designed around the company’s latest design language, which was announced at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
“China is evolving quickly and so are Chinese people’s attitudes. They are more self-confident, positive and creative. The LAFESTA will help us reflect this shifting trend,” said Simon Loasby, Director and Head of Hyundai China Design. “It’s a clear demonstration of how our newly announced design vision, ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ comes to life in Hyundai vehicles,” he added.
Powering the LaFesta is a 1.6-litre turbo GDi direct injection petrol engine that comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. While Hyundai is yet to reveal the specifications, sources inform us that the Hyundai LaFesta will offer approximately 200 bhp of maximum power.
The Korean carmaker has confirmed that its latest coupe-style liftback will offer best-in-class safety and driving assistance features. Full specifications will be revealed closer to the launch date.
